Rating: 4.5/5 Great Jesse Marcel Jr. has finally set the record straight on his father's involvement with the Roswell crash in his new book "The Roswell Legacy". Among the most famous participants in the Roswell incident, Major Jesse Marcel was one of the first military personel present at the crash scene. He recovered pieces of the wreckage and showed it to his family, including the author, well before the military cover-up that continues to this day. After years of mischaracterizations and outright distortions of the involvement and the character of his father, the author tells us the real story of who his father really was, and what he said about the case. Further, Jesse Marcel Jr. describes in detail the wreckage that he personally saw, including a very satisfying description of the infamous I-beam and the geometric writing on it. As a medical doctor, and military man himself - most recently serving in Iraq - Jesse Marcel Jr. presents his story with credibility all too often missing in this field, and a very clear ring of truth, all in a very readable and enjoyable format. He paints his father as a loyal army officer who was embittered by the cover-up, but also as a very competent officer who would most certainly, based on his education, have known if the wreckage he saw was indeed a weather balloon. It wasn't, and this book also presents compelling arguments against the negativists and the Airforce who have both sought to downplay the story as being a project MOGUL balloon. This is not a catch-all book on Roswell, rather, it simply presents the story of the Marcels, in the most authorative way possible and concludes with commentary from both Jesse Marcel and his Wife on the incident, its effect on their lives, and its implications for us all. I expect this book to be well recieved by UFOlogists for both its enjoyability as a story, but also as a good indicator of the character of two of the men directly involved with the Roswell incident.
