On September 1st, 2017 local time, CRRC Sifang signed a contract with the S?o Paulo Metropolitan Train Company?(CPTM)?for the supply of eight trains with a total of 64 cars for S?o Paulo's line 13, which marks the first order of mass transit vehicle of Chinese enterprise in S?o?Paulo, Brazil.
Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, Governor of S?o?Paulo State, and Ms Chen Peijie, Consul-general of China's Consulate General in S?o?Paulo witnessed the Contract signing.
S?o?Paulo, the biggest city in Brazil as well as in South America, with a population?of over 20 million, enjoys well-developed urban rail mass transit system. Currently, over ten railway lines are in operation covering almost whole S?o?Paulo city. These trains?are built for the line 13?which will have a length of 12.2 km upon completion, connecting downtown S?o Paulo with Guarulhos International Airport, the first airport line in South America.?CPTM issued the global bidding in 2016 for procurement of train for this line and CRRC Sifang won the international bidding.
As per Contract, CRRC Sifang will supply eight trains totaling?64 metro cars for CPTM line 13. These trains combining proven Chinese A type metro car platform and local Brazil technical standard and culture have a top operation speed of 90 km/h?and are equipped with safety systems including derailment detectors,?water mist fire extinguishers?and ground-onboard 3G/4G information transmission technology, which renders the car with riding comfort, speed and excellent safety performance. Delivery of trains is?expected to start in 2019.?
