A mysterious fire Tuesday evening has sparked police interest, though detectives haven't figured out what if any crime they're investigating.
The blaze was a man on fire. The man, who was not identified, suffered second- and third-degree burns over two-thirds of his body, and was listed in critical condition at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center on Wednesday, according to authorities. Fire officials called the fire "accidental," but police aren't convinced. "How does somebody burn 60 to 70 percent of their body?" detective Mark Gonzalez asked. "There's some questions out there. It doesn't add up to me" A woman walking by noticed a fire in the driveway of the Bay Avenue home around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday. "She was walking her dog and heard the fire moan," Gonzalez said.
